On Charity/Alms/Sadaqah.

Post  Abu Fauzi on Thu Jul 05, 2012 3:05 pm

Assalam alaikum,
Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, recounts that the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, once said:--

''There is Sadaqah due on every Muslim: if he cannot give because he has
no money, let him work. Then he can support himself and give charity. If
he is unable to work, then let him help someone in need of his help. If he
cannot do this, then let him enjoin good. If he cannot do that, then he should
do no evil nor harm others. (Even) this shall be written for him as Sadaqah''. [Ahmad]

Related to this, there are many other kinds of sadaqah we can give, which carry lots of rewards that money cannot buy, such as:--

1. Smiling...giving that friendly smiling face to your Brother in Islam attracts reward
from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
2. Feeding the poor.
3. Visiting the sick, and
4. Praying for others...whereby the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, said:-''The quickest prayer to be answered is one's
supplication for his brother in his absence''. (Bukhari)..thus keeping
others in our sincere Du'a requires selflessness--the very kernel of
brotherhood.
